Several years ago, the State Preservation Board began to harvest wood from trees on the Capitol grounds. These trees were damaged by storms or in decline and removed for safety reasons. The wood has been milled and kiln-dried and now sits in storage awaiting new iteration.
I was contacted by, Shawn Goodnight the Director of Retail for the State Preservation Board, to see if I could help in turning this wonderful historic wood into item that would carry on the history of the Texas Capitol.
Below are some pictures of that journey through woods that lived the history of Texas!
