Louro Preto - (Nectandra mollis) - also known as Brazilian Bocote. The heartwood color of Louro Preto varies from light grayish-brown to dark grey-brown, with frequent long darker streaks. The grain is straight to irregular. It nails and holds screws well, has good gluing properties and takes stain and polish for an excellent finish. Unlike Mexican Bocote which doesn't nail or holds screws well, is difficult to glue and takes stain and polish poorly.
