WHITE WENGE - (Amphimas pterocarpoides) also know as Lati, and Yaya and is native to Central and West Africa. The White Wenge tree grows to heights of 90-145 feet tall with diameters up to 48 inches. The grain structure is very similar in pattern to traditional, dark colored Wenge (Millettia laurentii), though the species are not closely linked botanically. The wood darkens to a golden yellow in time. Sapwood is light yellow in color, and is difficult to distinguish from the heartwood.
