OBECHE - (Triplochiton scleroxylon) also known as Ayous, Samba, Wawa, African Whitewood. Comes from Tropical West Africa and grown 65-100 feet tall and 3-5 feet in diameter. Heartwood tends to be a pale yellow, with the sapwood not clearly visible from the heartwood.
Common uses veneer, plywood, carvings, furniture, and interior millwork, as well as beams, posts, and planks in local house construction. Obeche is also used occasionally as an alternate tone wood for electric guitar bodies.
