HOPEA STONE BURL - (Hopea odorata) is from Southeast Asia, it is a very dense species. it can be found in Bangladesh ,Cambodia, India, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Hopea Stone is a large tree reaching up to 150 feet in height with the base of the trunk reaching a diameter of 15 feet. It grows in forests, preferably near rivers, at elevations to 2,000 feet.
In Thailand, where it is known as ta-khian, this tree is believed to be inhabited by a certain tree spirit known as Lady Ta-khian, belonging to a type of ghosts related to trees known generically as Nang Mai
Burl can have voids and incursions This burl has a very nice orange to light yellow in color with contrasting darker streaks of black and dark browns. It resembles Amboyna burl and Afzelia burl in color and burl patterns.
